As we grow older, our faces change and develop, making our overall appearance modify too. Last time we looked at how to prove these changes in anime women. So today we'll be moving on to men's faces!

Let's see how the aging process works in anime, starting from a immature boy and finishing with an one-time man.

See part one here: How to stand for different ages in anime women

Immature boy

A young boy has a circular face with very little definition and large rounded eyes. At this historic period it's hard to tell apart young boy characters from young girls, so we need to exist careful with hairstyles and clothing to make it more obvious. One subtle deviation is that a young boy should have a slightly slimmer confront than a young daughter.

Centre/high school pupil

Every bit a boy grows up to schoolhouse age, his stiff jawline emerges, and nosotros encounter more definition in his olfactory organ. To prove that he'south withal growing up, we leave his eyes and irises a scrap larger to make for a younger, slightly androgynous appearance.

Young adult

As our grapheme grows into a young man in his 20'south and thirty's, we see his face up abound longer and slimmer. His jawline and nose are even more pronounced equally his bone structure has finished developing. Considering the face is longer, the eyes appear smaller and sharper in comparison. Developing the contours of his lower jaw helps to give the character a grown-up, undecayed appearance.

Heart-anile man

As our character enters his 40's and l's, his face gets slimmer, meaning the basic stick out more – this gives the cheekbones and nose more definition. We become some wrinkles around the eyes, forehead and mouth. Nosotros want to give our graphic symbol the feeling of a composed, older man.

Former man

As our character enters his 70's and 80's, his appearance changes drastically. He starts to lose some hair – in this case we've brought the hairline back to represent this. His skin loses elasticity and begins to sag. We can encounter that around his eyes, forehead, cheeks and mouth the pare is losing its boxing with gravity and drooping downwardly. This skin gathers around the chin expanse, meaning the shape of the confront loses definition. Because of the sagging peel effectually his optics, the optics lose some of their sharpness, and become softer and more sleepy-looking.

And with that, we've covered both the female and male person crumbling process in anime! Nosotros've seen how the whole shape of the face changes as the bone structure develops from child to adult, and then how the muscle and peel starts to lose elasticity with historic period. This procedure is really important if you lot want to larn how to historic period your characters correctly, and let your audience know what kind of graphic symbol you lot're trying to present.

Equally practice, you could attempt drawing some of your favourite anime characters at different stages in their life – try drawing your favourite older grapheme equally a child, or your favourite school-age graphic symbol as a pensioner!
